Real estate is my passion. Although real estate was not my first career, it is my career of choice.
I studied accounting and business for many years and earned a bachelors degree in accounting and a master’s degree in Taxation, and earned the CPA designation. For 8 years, I was a practicing CPA specializing in taxation. I worked both in public accounting area helping large corporations with tax planning and preparation and also in the corporate environment doing tax preparation and planning for Verizon.
As in any corporate environment, there are occasional round of layoffs. When there was talk about layoffs, people would often ask each other, “What would you do if you were laid off?” My response was always that I would venture into real estate.
One day I began to wonder why had I always thought about it and never done it or even seriously thought about doing it? I began to really think. What I decided was that I did not enjoy preparing tax returns and could not see myself doing it for the rest of my life. So, I had to make a choice: Continue to work at a job that I dreaded just to have the safety of good pay and steady income or take a chance, quite my job, give up the income and do something that I thought I would love to do – dare to change; be my own boss. I chose change. I’ve never looked back or regretted it. I know that I made the right choice.
Many realtors fall into real estate. I made a very conscious decision to enter real estate. This is my chosen path and my passion. The one thing that I always regretted in my previous career was that I was not helping people. In real estate, it is my privilege to help, inform, and be there for people while they are making a very personal and very important home buying decision. I love learning what people want in a home and understanding their needs and likes. I love informing people of the positives and negatives of a certain floor plan, neighborhood, or location. I love helping people decide on paint colors, countertops, flooring, cabinets etc. I love discussing the different mortgage options and how owning a home can benefit them from a tax perspective.
In CPA field, people trusted me with their books and taxes. In real estate people trust me with their home. It is an honor for me.
